Flower Beds in Omaha, NE

Perennial beds, annual rotations, and bed renovations designed for Nebraska's zone 5b conditions. Bloom from May through October. Veteran-owned. Free quotes.

Flower beds built to bloom season after season

We design flower beds using a structural approach that ensures your landscape looks intentional even when nothing is in bloom. By layering heights and mixing textures, we create depth that draws the eye. Our team handles every technical detail, from deep spade edging that keeps grass out of your soil to the precise application of premium mulch that regulates root temperature and prevents weed growth.

Success in Nebraska's climate requires picking plants that can handle summer humidity and early autumn frosts. We use Omaha-tuned selections including hardy perennials, native grasses, and high-impact annuals. Every installation includes soil conditioning to address local clay content, ensuring your new plants have the nutrients they need to establish strong root systems and provide lasting color year after year.

What flower bed work we do

Perennial bed design and install

We create permanent landscape features using plants that return every spring. Our designs focus on a succession of bloom times so your yard stays colorful from May through the first frost.

Annual flower rotations

For maximum seasonal impact, we install fresh annuals in spring and autumn. This keeps your curb appeal high with vibrant, high-density color that perennials alone can't match.

Bed renovation

If your current beds are overgrown or dying out, we perform full renovations. This includes thinning out crowded perennials, correcting soil issues, and adding fresh specimens to modernize the look.

Bed shaping and edging

Clean lines define a professional landscape. We use mechanical edging to create deep, sharp vertical borders that prevent lawn encroachment and give your property a polished, upscale appearance.

Mulch and bed prep

Proper preparation involves more than just spreading mulch. We clear debris, treat for weeds, and apply premium wood mulch at the correct depth to protect your plants and keep maintenance low.

Seasonal color containers

We design and plant custom pots and planters for entries and patios. These high-impact arrangements are tailored to your sun exposure and can be swapped out as the seasons change.

Our flower bed process

1. Site walk and design

30 to 45 minutes on site. We look at sun exposure, existing beds, and how you want the yard to read. Hunter Willimon, the founder, does most walks. Free, no obligation.

2. Plant list and quote

Written scope with plant list, bed dimensions, mulch specs, and timeline. For larger designs we include a layout drawing showing bed shapes, plant spacing, and bloom timing chart.

3. Bed prep and edging

Existing grass and weeds stripped. Bed shaped, edged, and soil amended as needed. Grade adjusted so water drains correctly and does not sit on plant crowns.

4. Planting

Plants installed at correct spacing and depth for mature size. Root balls broken up before planting so roots grow outward. Annuals planted tight enough to fill in within 2 to 3 weeks.

5. Mulch and water-in

Mulch installed to spec depth. All plantings watered in thoroughly. Care instructions reviewed on site including watering schedule for the first 30 days, which is the critical establishment window.

6. Care plan and follow-up

Written care documentation including watering guidance, deadheading schedule, when to cut back perennials in fall, and when to expect each bloom cycle. Optional seasonal maintenance available for clients who want ongoing care.

Flower bed questions

When is the best time to plant flower beds in Omaha?

For perennials, early spring (late April to May) or early fall (September) offer the best success rates. Annual rotations usually begin after the last frost in mid-May. We schedule plantings to ensure roots can establish before the extreme heat or deep freezes arrive.

Do you install irrigation for new flower beds?

While we focus on the planting and design, we coordinate with irrigation specialists to ensure your beds have the proper coverage. We highly recommend drip irrigation for perennials to deliver water directly to the roots and minimize waste in Nebraska's windy climate.

How often should I refresh the mulch in my beds?

In Omaha, a fresh layer of premium wood mulch is usually needed once a year, typically in spring. Mulch suppresses weeds and helps the soil retain moisture during dry periods. We provide professional mulching services as part of our seasonal prep packages.

Can you fix an existing flower bed that is overgrown?

Yes, bed renovation is one of our specialties. We can clear out weeds and invasive plants, prune overgrown shrubs, redefine the edge, and add new color to restore your bed to its original beauty without starting from scratch.
